Our Farm

…is exactly what it sounds like. We grow up instead of out to grow food 2 miles from downtown Detroit. We have grown many different varieties of lettuces, herbs, microgreens, and edible flowers. We have very flexible growing systems between our Pipp Horticulture flood and drain system featuring dynamic spectrum Philips lights and full spectrum Bios lights, and Planted’s Automated Racking System (affectionately known as PARS). All of our systems are contained within a 20,000 sq. ft. warehouse, allowing us to grow an immense amount of greens in a lot less space than traditional farming. The amount of technology packed into one building is a sight to be seen and a taste to be tried!

Shoes off, clean boots on, full body suit, hairnet, insert hands into the automatic hand-washer, and slap on gloves like you are heading into the operating room. This is the daily (often many times daily) procedure that everyone who sets foot in our farm must go through. Making sure our greens don’t come into contact with pathogens is our top priority. Every effort we make to maintain a biosecure growing environment is to ensure the food you eat is safe for consumption, higher nutrient values, and longer shelf life.

CEA = Controlled Environment Agriculture (we are control freaks and we know it). In order to ensure we grow the healthiest and flavorful greens we can, we monitor every aspect of the growing environment including light, temperature, what we feed the plants, and who comes into contact with them. We grow hydroponically, using Nutrient Film Technique, which feeds the plants through a moving stream of nutrient rich water. By adjusting the nutrient mixture, the temperature of the room, and how much light the plants receive, we can affect the flavor of the plants, producing a final product that chefs and home cooks go crazy for.
